Confirmation mentoring coming this fall

Have you had a person who has shown interest in you, created a safe space for you, listened to you, was willing to have tough conversations with you, and pointed you to the Word of God? That person was a mentor! Mentoring is the privilege to help a young person navigate his/her faith journey as he/she takes on the surroundings of the world.

Scripture encourages us to “Tend the flock of God that is in your charge, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion but willingly, as God would have you do it--not for sordid gain but eagerly” (1Peter 5:2). Research has shown that young people benefit from close, caring relationships with safe adults who serve as positive role models.

Calvary’s Confirmation Ministry is starting a mentoring program in the fall! We are looking for caring, empathetic, consistent role models to develop a supportive relationship with our middle school youth. We want to provide a ministry of presence to our youth. We want to love, serve, and be the people of God! We want to be a connected and caring faith community.

We will have more information about how to become a mentor soon. We will pray, provide the resources, and do background checks. Blessings!
